"Our bodies often tell the stories our minds are too busy to notice."
Motherhood has taught me many lessons over the years—some joyful, others unexpected.
Have you ever heard of double dark circles?
I hadn't.
At least... not until I looked in the mirror one day and realized I had them.
It made me laugh.
But it also made me think.
The truth is that even when we believe we're doing fine, our bodies quietly reveal what we've been overlooking.
Sometimes it's tired eyes.
Sometimes it's a headache.
Sometimes it's simply exhaustion disguised as "I'm okay."
Life gets busy.
Responsibilities pile up.
And without realizing it, we start ignoring the small signals asking us to slow down.
A Conversation I'll Never Forget
A few days ago, my son looked at me and said:
"Mom, I don't want to become an adult. I want to stay like this forever."
I smiled.
Then I answered:
"You simply have to learn to enjoy every stage of life, because each one comes with its own advantages and challenges. Unfortunately, we can't have everything we want all at once.
Eat well so you don't have to depend on medicine later.
Sleep well. And every morning, be grateful for another chance to live your life—even on the days when you don't feel your best."
He stayed quiet for a moment.
Then repeated:
"I still don't want to grow up." 😑
Moments like these remind me that motherhood isn't only about raising children—it's also about passing on values, gratitude, and learning to appreciate every stage of life.
Growing Up Looks Different for Every Generation
His answer made me smile.
Because I grew up in a generation that couldn't wait to become an adult.
Being older meant freedom.
Independence.
Possibilities.
Today, things feel different.
Many children seem afraid of adulthood.
Perhaps because they see how fast life moves.
Or maybe because adulthood often looks exhausting.
To be honest...
After seeing my double dark circles, I almost understood his point.
Embracing Every Season of Life
The passing of time changes all of us.
Not only physically.
It changes the way we think.
The things we value.
Our priorities.
The way we understand happiness.
I've learned that aging isn't something to fear.
It's something to experience.
Each stage teaches us something the previous one couldn't.
And perhaps that's the greatest privilege of growing older.
We keep becoming new versions of ourselves.
One Final Thought
Let's continue walking through life with lightness.
Let's welcome change instead of fighting it.
Let's take care of our bodies while we still can.
Let's laugh at our dark circles every now and then.
Because in the end...
Not even our dark circles come with us.
But the way we lived certainly does.
