Sometimes, the answers we ask for don't come through words. Sometimes, they grow quietly on a branch we've almost forgotten.

Planting Something I Couldn't Yet See

About six years ago, I planted a single cashew nut that I had bought at the market.

Just a few days later, a tiny sprout emerged.

Watching something so small come to life was exciting, even though I had no idea where that little tree would eventually lead me.

For the next two years, it remained small—no more than 45 or 50 centimeters tall. It was growing in a space with very limited conditions, and although it stayed healthy, its development was slow.

When I moved to a new house, I brought the little cashew tree with me.

I couldn't leave it behind.

It had become part of my journey.

In my new garden, I planted it alongside other young fruit trees. They all began to grow, but none of them produced fruit.

At least, not yet.

A Prayer in the Middle of Uncertainty

Toward the end of 2023, life became especially challenging.

I was going through a season filled with uncertainty, difficult decisions, and more questions than answers.

One afternoon, while standing quietly in my garden, I prayed.

Not a perfect prayer.

Just an honest one.

I asked God for wisdom to guide me through everything I was facing.

Then my eyes rested on the little cashew tree.

Since cashew has always been my favorite fruit, an unexpected thought came to my mind.

I whispered:

"Father, if the choices I'm making are the right ones, please give me a sign. Let me see the fruits of what I've planted."

At first, I was thinking only about the cashew tree.

Then I looked around at the other trees and extended that same prayer to all of them.

Deep down, I knew a cashew tree usually takes many years to bear fruit.

Mine wasn't supposed to be ready yet.

Which is why I didn't really expect anything to happen.

The First Fruit

A few days later, while pruning the trees in my garden, something caught my attention.

There it was: an answered prayer, a tiny cashew beginning to grow.

I froze. For a moment, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

My first thought was:

"This must be a coincidence."

But almost immediately another thought followed:

"Wait... it hasn't even been the expected number of years."

The surprise was overwhelming.

I can't fully describe what I felt in that moment.

I was happy.

Grateful.

Moved.

And, if I'm being honest, I cried.

The very first cashew from my little tree became much more than a fruit.

It became a reminder.

More Than a Fruit

The cashew was the very first fruit my tree had ever produced.

I decided to make juice with it.

Surprisingly, that single cashew filled an entire generous jar.

As simple as that may sound, I found myself deeply moved while drinking it.

Every sip carried memories.

Every sip reminded me of the journey.

The years of waiting.

The doubts.

The prayer.

The unexpected answer.

As I drank that juice, countless lessons filled my heart.

I'm writing these words now with tears in my eyes because I never imagined that something so ordinary could carry such extraordinary meaning.

When Faith Finds Confirmation

A few days later, something else happened.

A second cashew appeared.

Then another.

And another.

Each new fruit seemed to whisper the same message to my heart:

"Keep trusting."

I wasn't celebrating the number of fruits.

I was celebrating what they represented.

Patience.

Hope.

Faith.

Sometimes we spend so much time looking for extraordinary miracles that we fail to notice the quiet ones growing right in front of us.

The Fruits We Cannot See

Looking back, I realize this story was never really about a cashew tree.

It was about everything that happened before the fruit appeared.

The waiting.

The uncertainty.

The moments when nothing seemed to be changing.

Planting teaches us something beautiful.

The seed disappears long before the tree becomes visible.

Growth happens in silence.

Roots form underground, hidden from our eyes.

And yet, they are preparing everything that will eventually appear above the surface.

Perhaps our lives work the same way.

Many of the answers we long for are already growing.

We simply can't see them yet.

The Greatest Lesson

I never imagined that a single cashew could move me to tears.

Or teach me such profound lessons.

But today, when I think about that first fruit, I understand that it was never just about the harvest. It was about the journey.

About learning to trust while nothing seemed to happen.

About continuing to care for something without knowing when—or even if—it would bear fruit.

For me, this experience became a beautiful reminder that patience, faith, and perseverance are deeply connected.

I left that moment believing that nothing had happened by chance.

Whether someone calls it God's timing, the quiet wisdom of nature, or simply life's mysterious way of answering us, what matters most is the lesson it leaves behind.

Some of the greatest rewards in life don't arrive overnight.

They grow slowly.

Quietly.

Almost unnoticed.

Until one day, they remind us that every seed planted with love, hope, and patience has the potential to bear fruit.

And when that day comes, we realize the harvest was never the greatest gift.

The greatest gift was becoming the person who never stopped believing while waiting for it.
